Cradle of Hope:
But there is more! By working with Sanctuary House and Sandi Bornman, the family has a local social worker here in Pennsylvania who will help them to complete their adoption, including their dossier. The dossier is a collection of documents that are required for the foreign government. The collecting of these documents can be cumbersome and families say that this personalized assistance is invaluable.
Sanctuary House even takes this one step farther than other network agencies! We help families with the application process for BCIS (formerly INS), and personally take documents through the Department of State and Consulate Steps when needed. This could save you from having to take a day off work to go to Harrisburg. We are also able to offer more flexible scheduling for families to help lessen the amount of days one needs to be off work for the adoption process. (So you can save them up for being with your child) We also help families with the naturalization and re-adoption process once your child has arrived home.
Sandi Bornman has personally completed over 50 international adoptions and has been working with CHAC for 7 years. She is very knowledgeable, honest and supportive. Her level of experience allows her to provide families with a great deal of insight and wisdom about the adoption process. She is always available to answer questions and offer reassurance to her families. She loves her work and adores the children. Many of her families have become friends.
Sanctuary House and Sandi Bornman have the pleasure of being a Network Agency for Cradle of Hope Adoption Center (CHAC), a first-class international adoption agency licensed in the states of Maryland and Virginia. Networks, like Sanctuary House, allow Pennsylvania families to work with CHAC. A family’s Home Study must be completed by an agency licensed in the state where they live. Sanctuary House is a licensed Pennsylvania Adoption Agency.
Sanctuary House is also available to help families who wish to adopt from countries other than the ones CHAC works in. Referrals can be made to agencies working in other countries. If you choose to work with another agency, we can complete Home Studies, help with application to BCIS, and provide guidance to families with the Department of State and some Consulate steps. Sandi has personally assisted families with adoptions from Russia, China, Guatemala, Colombia, Ukraine, India, Kazakhstan, and others.
