General Anatomical diagrams of Major Taxonomic Groups in Keys: Podocopa [Podocopida] and Myodocopa [Myodocopida and Halocyprida] [anatomical variation within groups not shown]

top left:Order Podocopida [modified from David J. Horne]; bottom left: Order Halocypridina [modified from Martin Angel]; right: Order Myodocopida [modified from James Morin]

1.Key to the Subclasses of Ostracoda and Orders of Myodocopa [red=key character; n.g.=character not given for Podocopa]

The carapace figs. below show some of the range of variation within the Subclass Myodocopa. The figs. are arranged by similarity rather than taxa, because of homoplasy in shape [unlike other morphological figs.]. They are arranged from more to less rounded, from no incisur [anterior indentation] to deep incisur, and somewhat from more ornamented to less.
