Easter Island has long inspired my imagination, as it has that of my brother Dave. In late November and early December 2003, we finally made it there, and explored some of the countryside around Santiago, Chile, as well (Easter Island is administered by Chile). This was a pretty good time of year to visit Easter Island & Chile; it's the beginning of the southern hemisphere summer, plenty warm but not unbearably so, and well before the crowded peak travel season.
