Anchor the tip of pulgar to give support to the right hand. As the picado leads from the sixth string towards the first string, move the pulgar towards the sixth string. The idea is to rest the pulgar against the sixth string at about the point where the picado is at the fourth string. You want to provide support for the right hand and not create a long streatch or discomfort.
