| Juan Martin | Solos Flamencos | Mel Bay 99825SET - DVD 99825BCV VHS | Designed for the beginner, intermediate and more advanced players. You must have or obtain the ability to play basic flamenco guitar techniques as this offering does not cover technique. A true bargin which will teach you a great deal! This is my favorite material to recommend to anyone interested in learning flamenco guitar. |
| Luigi Marraccini | You Can Teach Yourself Flamenco Guitar | Mel Bay MB95358BCD | A good book for the beginner, which includes basic technique as well as traditional flamenco pieces. Includes CD. |
| Juan Serrano | Flamenco Guitar Basic Techniques | Mel Bay MB93632BCD | The latest printing of this volume contains a CD. Good basic material, with important studies to give the student a firm foundation. |
| Juan Serrano | Systematic Studies for Flamenco Guitar | Mel Bay MB96871 | For the more advanced student. The book is comprised of 13 different flamenco forms. Ten falseta's for each form are given. This would be a good supplement to other methods. No CD. |
| Juan Martin | El Arte Flamenco de la Guitarra | United Music Publishers Ltd
Volume I 414-41132 Volume II 414-41133 |
A two volume set, with CD's. Good material, and the student should have some expeience with the guitar, at least knowledge of basic cords. |
| Juan Martin | La Guitarra Flamenca | Warner Bros. Publications | This series contains six lessons, with video and written material. It is a good series, especially for the student unable to find a suitable teacher. Again, knowledge of basic guitar cords is recommended. |
| Dennis Koster | The Keys to Flamenco Guitar | PJN Publications
11730 |
There are three books to this series. Books one and two come with CD's. The third book is concert selections and is not listed here. It is an excellent series, and will teach the student a number of different types of rhythms very quickly. It can be used as a self teaching guide, or by a teacher as a good method. The student should have some experience with the guitar, at least knowledge of basic cords is recommended. |
| Dennis Koster | Advanced Flamenco Guitar | AIG Publications
AIG009 |
This book is for the more advanced student, and is a part of the above series. |
| Chuck Keyser | Flamenco Guitar | Academy of Flamenco Guitar
P.O. Box 1292, Santa Barbara, CA 93102 (805) 563-0922 |
Chuck has been called the PHD of Flamenco, and I agree! This is not a course for the beginner (unless you are brave), but will keep you occupied for years. It is rich in theory and practice, with outstanding examples from many great flamenco guitarists. I always find myself refering to Chuck's work, with it's examples on four CD's. All the course material can be printed, and you can go to your favorite copy shop, to have them bind it. This is a great reference source for anyone serious about flamenco guitar. There are many audio/video examples. |
