WHITE’S COMPANY
Company A, 35th Virginia Battalion
North-South Skirmish Association

George Thomas Hocker, “Doc” began his skirmish career in 1961 while an intern at Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. His initial team was the Guilford Grays. In 1963, he joined the Laurel Brigade, ANV where he was a member for 33 years. In 1996, he along with 6 other members of the Laurel Brigade formed White’s Company (Co A 35th Virginia Battalion).

In the early 60’s he established the N-SSA medical Corp and was the primary physician until the early 80’s. For his tireless efforts, he was awarded the highest award of the N-SSA, the Award of Merit. In addition, for many years, he served as the commander of the Laurel Brigade. Until the last year, he attended and shot in all but one National Skirmish while attending numerous invitational and regional skirmishes.

Memories abound of this colorful and knowledgeable brother, father, uncle and friend to his team mates and fellow skirmishers.

On November 5, 2006, Doc crossed the river. He is missed.
