Notes:
- I will be
using “North”, “South” etc through this walkthrough, so for
those of you who don’t know, this is what a compass looks like:

The large
letters are the main directions: North, East, South, and West.
The smaller letters inbetween are the diagonal directions: North
East, South East, South West and North West*. In FotR, north is
always up, and south down
etc. Got that? A great way of learning the directions is this
rhyme – “Never East Shredded Wheat”. There’s nothing wrong with
Shredded Wheat, but it’s a great way to learn your compass
directions.
-
SC
means: Change of scene, in the game this will come
about with the map fading to black, and then back, with you in a
different place.
* In the
real world, as you move around you change your position in
relation to the north, the north being the North Pole. That’s
how a compass works – it has a magnetic needle in it that points
towards the magnetic field at the North Pole. So, because the
needle always points north, you can work out which direction
your going.
|
| Part 1 - The Beach |
|
You start off
at the beach at level 2, with 2 cure potions and a dagger.
As of the moment, the only monsters around are ussal crabs,
and they are VERY easy to beat.

At this

CANNOT be avoided if the storyline is to proceed).
Go to the

Fire Temple is with potions or if you level up.
Now let's
head towards the Fire temple. First, you need to get out of
Ta-Koro.

Right,
Charred forest...again. Go down (just a few steps), then
head west (left). Keep going, until you meet up with...
S.C....
You're still

| Part 3 - The Fire Temple |
|
Ok, so you're
in the Fire temple now...cool music. The monsters you can
meet up with are now...Fikou (3). Note: If the monster's got
a number beside it in brackets in this guide, like you just
saw, that means the number it appears in. Fikou (3) means
that three Fikou are going to battle you at once. Since it’s
basically the same as what you battle in the Charred Forest,
I’m not going to draw a table here.
First, go
RIGHT and then up and hit the switch...then go back down to
the fork and go left. Ignore the first 'branch-off', because
that's a dead end. Instead, go up, and turn right. Keep
going to the end and go down the stairs.
S.C....
Just keep
following the corridor...go past the big doors (can't go
through yet)...just keep following the path...hit the
switch. Now go back to the big doors...hey! They're gone!
Well, go down the new corridor, and enter the room with the
big chest. Open it, and get the flame sword. This beauty
will now appear on the back of Kaiwera.
Go out of
that room, and in front of that pillar with the funny gold
stuff. Press Enter or Spacebar or whatever your 'use' button
is. Ta-Da. Your pathway is now open. Go down the stairs.
S.C....
Go up and hit
the switch. But before you go through, I'll warn you,
there's going to be another boss fight. Ready? Right, now go
through the doors. You will appear in a desert. Now let the
game guide you.

Right, after
that amusing conversation with the two idiotic excuses for a
Nui-Rama, you fight. After you’ve taken care of the two, a

S.C…
Yay! Big
chest! Open it! Ta-Da…and you find Tahu’s Hau!!! Now take it
to Vakama, like the game says…the game will automatically
teleport you to the Charred Forest. From there on, you must
fight your way through masses of Fikou (again) to Ta-Koro.
So, get yourself there…and we’ll skip directly to where you
talk to Vakama.
S.C….
You will
automatically go to Vakama and start the conversation once
you’ve entered the room. So now you need to find the other
Chosen. Good job. You have officially completed Ta-Koro.
Well, not quite, since you’ll be back. So go to Tear’s
point. Let’s skip the Charred Forest and go directly to the
beach.
S.C….
Go down the
stairs, and cross the bridge. Go north, north, north, pass
the stone thingies, across the big sand plain, and up the
stairs. Go east once you’ve reached the top of the stairs.
Keep going, right across the bridge, look around…and a
cutscene will follow.

| Part 4 - Ga-Koro |
|
Yeehaw!
Ga-Koro! This place is great…nice music, too. Go around and
buy stuff, rest at the inn, whatever. After you’re done
shopping, talk to Moana (btw, if you have been smart enough
to read through everything in this walkthrough, this is THE
Moana that I was talking about *wink* ), who is, like she
said, apart from the others, standing at the square.
She tells you
to talk to Maku. Do that, and find out about where Turaga
Nokama has gone, as well as why. Then go down from the stage
and talk to Moana. She’s furious, and demands to go to the
water temple as well.
MOANA HAS
JOINED YOUR PARTY
Hurrah. Your
first Ga-Koronan. She is very intelligent and you will find
her very useful for healing your party. She starts off with
a short sword and a robe at level 5.
Now, go out
of Ga-Koro and head north. Cross the bridge, and leave
through the west path.

Open the chest. This will trigger a cutscene where Moana

of Water. Now you can also travel across water using wooden
platforms…this will come in very handy.
Now go back
all the way to the fork at the beginning. Take the east
tunnel. You will notice the wooden platforms on top of the
water. Stepping onto one will now teleport you to another
platform directly opposite. Keep doing this to travel all
the way to the other side of the tunnel. When there are no
more platforms, STOP. DO NOT CONTINUE. Prepare yourself for
the toughest fight yet! This will be against a Tarakava, and

Ta-da!
You have made it all the way to Ko-Koro! Now
do whatever you do at a town; shop, heal, whatever. Then,
when you’re finished, head north, up the stairs, and into
Turaga Nuju’s hut. But it’s so big; mansion’s probably a
better word.
Go in and
talk to Turaga Nuju. Matoro will translate his words. Now do
as Nuju says, and talk to those rangers. Or basically every
one in town. You should get a name…
When you’ve
done that, prepare yourself…you are about to meet the third
chosen. The Chosen of Ice.
Head out of
Ko-Koro, and down three staircases (including the one
connecting Ko-Koro to the world). Now go up those staircases
to the northwest that I told you to stay away from. Go up
those three staircases and read the sign post. Head west.
That’s right. Towards the snow plains.
Now all you
need to do is walk around for a few moments.
A cutscene
will occur where you meet Pirihi, the ranger that has gone
missing. You will learn why he did not return to Ko-Koro.
Then they will talk a bit more and…
PIRIHI HAS
JOINED YOUR PARTY
Yay. This guy
is lvl 7 and starts off with a long sword and some leather
armour. After he’s joined, you will be teleported to outside
the snow plains.
Go back to
Nuju and talk to him. You will learn about the whereabouts
of the Ice temple. Now go back outside and up those three
northwestern staircases until you see the sign post.
Remember I told you to read it? Well, you should know where
the Ice temple is. Head north up all those staircases. Just
keep heading forward, sometimes up, sometimes down.
Eventually
you will reach the summit and arrive at the Ice Temple.
Well, what are you waiting for? Go in!

doors will have disappeared. Go down the steps.
S.C….

You’ll get a
fork at first sight, but either way makes no difference. The
west path is faster and you’ll meet less monsters. Keep
following the path through many trees and monsters. All of
your party members should be gaining levels very quickly.
Sooner or
later you’ll meet up with a big door, with either your
members or your potions quite depleted.

| Part 19 - The Air Temple |
|
S.C….
A hallway with a wooden platform and two exits. Take either
exit, as it doesn’t matter. Go all the way north and into
that door.
S.C….
Take a good look around all of the rooms then head east and
south through the door. There are two exits here, one
staircase and one door. Go through the door, and up the
staircase.
S.C….
Take either door up and into a new room. Ignoring the door
to the north, head into the west corridor. If you read the
map in one of the rooms, you should recognise this place.
Head down through the doors (or up, whatever) and down the
staircases.
S.C….
You’re in a sort of cave-beach area, similar to the Water
Temple. Head north, the only way, and into the room. Read
the text.
Ok, now make your way back to the entrance of the Temple and
talk to the wooden platform you passed. It’ll burn up.
Now make your way back to the area with hidden corridors and
talk to that platform. It’ll burn up too.
Go north and through that door I asked you to ignore. Go
down those staircases until you reach the bottom floor. Talk
to the out-of-place rock wall.
Kikia and Kohuke will tear it down. Go through the new
entrance.
S.C….
You’re back in that subterranean cave. Go up and head west
onto the wooden platform. Jump in.
S.C….
You’re underwater now! Woo hoo! Well, navigate yourself to
the end and into that patch of sunlight. You’re now in that
air pocket mentioned in the text. Go north through the door
and go south onto the thin platform that looks like a diving
board.
Now, go up to the end of it…
People with heart disease or high blood pressure please look
away (but still press the buttons and such).
And press your ‘use’ button. 4 times.
S.C….
Ok, safe to look back now. Go out the door, then go north
across the bridges. Go through the door. Keep going through
the chambers up to the chest. Open it up and…guess what?!
No Miru.
