Eleanor Morehouse who resides in Somerset, New Jersey, began her art career in 1973 studying with well-respected artists. She has exhibited in many successful one woman and group shows and has won numerous awards throughout the East Coast.

In a recent visit to the English countryside, the quaint cottages surrounded by informal flower gardens inspired Eleanor. The delicate beauty and charm of England was a source of inspiration, which she has portrayed in many of her oil paintings.

Eleanor most enjoys sharing her passion for painting by teaching small groups privately. She displays a contagious enthusiasm to her students while helping them to develop and broaden their skills. Eleanor has also taught oil painting at the Hunterdon County Adult School and is a member of the Raritan Valley, and Westfield Art Association.

Over the years, she has developed a distinctive style which is quickly recognized. Vibrant colors, traditional florals and lush landscapes exhibit varying degrees of light to create a dimensional quality. Yearly visits to the rocky coast of Maine draw her yet in another direction as the artist captures the moods of the sea and blends them with her own artistic expression.

Whatever the subject, Eleanor’s goal is to preserve her feelings and impressions on canvas, inviting the viewer to share in her personal view of nature’s beauty.
