Bring the world into schoolsRegister as an RPCV speaker! The Peace Corps’ Speakers Match program provides a fascinating way to introduce students to other cultures and to share your inspiring stories of service through photographs, artifacts, music, language and stories. To help you effectively share your work, Peace Corps developed the Speakers Match Handbook, rich with resources for RPCV speakers. The handbook provides teaching suggestions to connect your activity with Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Math, World Languages, or other subjects. It also includes suggestions for communication with the teacher and ideas for pre- and post-visit activities to extend the learning beyond your visit.Learn more and register for Speakers Match today Grant Assists St. Vincent Parents and Staff Push for Peace Corps - Contact your rep. Check out the new video Bringing the World Home: Peace Corps’ Third Goal The Friends of the Eastern Caribbean is composed of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers who served in the Eastern Caribbean and all others interested in the Eastern Caribbean. To date over 3,600 volunteers have served. The countries of the Eastern Caribbean face special development challenges because of their small size and vulnerability to natural disasters. They are poised on the edge of technological innovation, yet hampered by a limited economy subject to any changes in the global economy. One such example is the island of Dominica, which reported a 60 percent drop in exports last year, while remaining in the top third of the United Nations Development Index. Despite these complexities, there remains a natural beauty formed from the many rugged mountains, extensive rain forests, dynamic volcanoes and lush vegetation found throughout the islands.
Friends of the Eastern Caribbean is your link to the EC and to all your friends who served in the Peace Corps there. Currently there are two ways to join:
All RPCVs should also consider joining their local RPCV organization & community activities. |
