Photo Portrait of Dyana Foldvary

Dyana Foldvary graduated from San Francisco State University with a Masters Degree (MFA), in Fine Arts. In addition to exhibiting her work in galleries, Dyana has taught art extensively and has mentored youths inspiring them to reach their creative potential. In 1992, she studied watercolor painting with Leszek Forczek.

In her studio in Northern California, she paints with watercolors and oils, expressing her creativity in both representational as well as abstract concepts. Some of the paintings shown here have been reproduced as museum quality Giclée Prints using either water color paper, or canvas, giving them the look of an original painting.

"I love watercolor for it's ability to capture a subtle sense of color, atmosphere, and light. I love oil paint for it's gutsy versatility and vibrance. In my watercolors, I paint up to 150 layers, slowly weaving colors together to create a broad spectrum of subtle tones. Most recently I've been applying oils in a layered technique as well, sometimes using a razor blade instead of a brush. I also use digital technology to make mixed media work, merging the ancient world of painting with the modern digital age. These three very disparate ways of working fulfill my need for spontaneity and diversity."
