On February 12, the Hen-der-Hatters held an absolutely fabulous Mother-Daughter Tea at The Shabby Gate in Hendersonville.  There were Red hats and Pink hats; purple clothes and lavender clothes.  Ages ranged from 3 weeks to 94 years!  There were mothers, grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, and friends!  There were even two 3-generation families represented.

We wanted to let the younger girls know how to age gracefully, so each of us gave some good advice about getting old:  You know you are getting old when

  • Your friends compliment you on your alligator shoes and you are barefoot!

  • A sexy babe catches your fancy and your pacemaker opens the garage door!

  • You don't care where your spouse goes, just as long as you don't have to go along.

We also played a game led by Paula, The Shabby Gate owner, and another at the end of the tea led by this month's hostess.  David, husband, father, and son-in-law of three of the girls, even came and took pictures on the front porch!

Lunch included soup, salad, scones, sandwiches, desserts, and tea.  We were saddened to learn The Shabby Gate would be closing soon, but hopeful that it will reopen so more afternoon teas can be held in our hometown!

Pictures coming soon!
