On Sunday, December 12, 5 Hen-der-Hatters, 3 Scarlet Sisters, and 1 Rouge Chapeaux bundled up in purple regalia, donned red hats, and climbed into a purple pickup truck to make our debut appearance in the annual Hendersonville Christmas parade.  Although we didn't win a prize, we had lots of fun and laughs and have already started talking about next year's entry.

As we rode down Main Street, we blew kisses from our big red lips.  We heard many shouts from people, including "I want to be a Red Hat", "Bad Botox" (referring to our big lips), and even one child who asked his mother, "What is botox?"  One young man even ran out and wrapped his arms around Sue, to which she promptly gave him a kiss!

As we approached the Judge's stand, we played We Wish You a Merry Christmas on our official instrument, the kazoo, and blew kisses to the judges after taking a bow.

One side story of the parade was as Judy of the Rouge Chapeaux chapter was walking through the park before the parade, she felt something strange happening.  Upon further investigation, she discovered her pants had fallen down to her ankles.  She could hear the mother behind her exclaim, "This is a family parade, Ma'am!"  At least she was laughing while she said it!
