Myra Fourwinds got her first Aussie in 1971. He was a pattern white, named "Chaos", who taught her the meaning of "companion dog". During the next several years, Myra became interested in attending shows and stockdog trials, to see more Aussies. By 1976, she was visiting the ranches and kennels of Australian Shepherd breeders between Texas and Colorado looking at dogs, stockdog training, and asking questions.
In July, 1978, her new pup, Colorado's Macho Azo, took Best Opposite Puppy in Oklahoma City. He later went on to become her first obedience dog, getting his CD with a High in Trial in Missouri.

In the early '80's, Myra established Fourwinds Kennels, and produced working stockdogs that were placed on ranches and dairy farms throughout the Midwest. She "recycled" the "leftover" puppies from other breeders, training them as started ranch dogs.
Myra bought a boarding kennel in California in 1991, and for ten years taught agility and obedience classes to the public. Between 1996 and 1998, she trialed and titled three of her Aussies in agility. During the same time, she trained her Aussies in Search and Rescue.

In 1997, Myra attended Dr. Bonnie Bergin's The Assistance Dog Institute, and became a service dog trainer. Several Aussies Myra has bred and trained are working today as successful service dogs.
