Characters in Color
To those of you who have been here before, there is now a separate page for the most recent additions to my artwork galleries: New Art
Well, here it is. The cornerstone of my creation. Pictured below are some of my artworks of characters from the story I have created. Remember to check out some of my other artwork in the other gallery pages when you get finished here. For example, slide open The Junk Drawer to check out some of my splendiferous (is that a word?) pencil sketches of characters and such. And remember to give me feedback on what you think of my artwork. If you for some reason despise my artwork, please first read my Tips on writing proper hate mail so as not to make a fool of yourself when you send me your critique.
The characters depicted here and in The Junk Drawer are conceptual ideas for characters who will appear in the big story I am writing. I have finished plotting my story for all intents and purposes and I have now begun my grand scheme of writing the whole thing into a trilogy of novels; each one ending with the defeat of a major menace and new questions to be answered. The novels will revolve around the vigilante and adventuring life of Jake (aka Trencher). Through time-travel blundering, he creates an alternate reality on Earth and attempts to cope with the forces he has unleashed with the help of several new friends and allies. No stereotypical large-tentacled demons here though. The creatures and technology can perhaps best be described as sword & sorcery mixed with anthropomorphics and bizarre monsters meets old western and future cyberpunk with a sprinkling of aliens, superheroes, and big mechas; everything a healthy story needs. Love, friendship, rivalry, and betrayals are all to be part of the mix.
The bulk of the story takes place in a country called Nova Albion (mostly what we know as the western United States) and then expands to Europe, Asia, and a few alternate dimensions. Jake lives, Jake dies a few times, and from there on the trilogy ends, but the continuing possibilities are endless. Every story has a happy ending for someone, but not always the best ending, though in Jake's case it isn't the worst.
From this I hope to live the creator's dream by eventually producing t-shirts, figurines, posters, video games, and Japanese animation. But first I have to write the story. The main focus is the story and characters, as it should be.
Trencher visits a topsy-turvy New York? Not quite. This is the cover to my first effort at drawing Trencher in comic form, before I changed my art style and story mood. The photos in the background are all from my visit to New York City years ago. Dated 12/95.
- Sample pages from that attempt. (not published) [Ink].
Page One: Jake and Feiora in a tavern. Page Two: Jake receives a mysterious letter. Page Ten: Thadius teleports Jake against his will into its lair for a little chat. Page Eleven: Jake refuses to cooperate with Thadius and they begin to fight.
Jake & Fiora in their classic standing pose, like the one in this background. This was drawn and colored soon after I changed my art style so I could iron it on a T-shirt.
Jake in his original armor, before his first death. The background is from an issue of Thieves & Kings by Mark Oakley.
This is Jake after having his form altered. He looks like this through the last half of the story.
Feiora never looked better, or kicked more booty. This is her new look after training with Diavisco.
This lass is Daphne. She was invented as a D&D version of Feiora, but she developed a personality of her own and thus became a legitimate new character. Incidentally, Waldron (further down) started as a version of Jake (and literally is in the story).
Mandy: This freakish-looking female used to be Jake's fiancee. She also used to look human.
Leila: A djinniyah (genie) with amnesia. Leila's hair was inspired by the Dirty Pair Flash's Kei. Thanks also goes to CLAMP for the eyes.
Rae-Xor: This elf was created for a Dungeons & Dragons role-play campaign. I plan to convert him into the same elf species as Feiora for the book.
A 3-D image of one of my lesser characters.
The bobbing head of Thadius. This is a two-frame "animation" of the head of one of Trench's most annoying enemies. He is a cross between a fennec fox and a dragon and only about the size of a chihuahua.
Those select few of you who received one of my annual form letters for Christmas '97 will recognize this. And,YES, that hand is supposedly coming toward you to offer up a candy cane.
This is the semi-original Crew, after Spectrum and before Cider (see the mini-promo below for more insight). I used this design for a T-shirt.
- Mini-promo! This is the condensed form of a story promo I tried to create a couple of years ago. These give a little insight into what goes on in the first half of the story along with showing some pictures of a few of my other characters. Please email me if you have any questions, but I am purposely remaining somewhat cryptic in my story summaries. [Ink, no color]

- These are some of the Crew members that join up with Jake and Feiora in the latter half of the story:
Genevier: Elan thief born with a bone disease.
Domino: Had his beginnings as a role-playing character in Battletech: Mechwarrior.
Waldron: Had his beginnings as a role-playing character in Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. Brother (or would it be twin?) of Jake.
Samantha: From the shores of Europe in search of something to aid in their battle against the invading monsters.
ToEM story collage, starring Fiora: Fiora in color wearing her new outfit (which she seems to like), along with (clockwise from top) Gusty Meadow, Jake (contemplating his alternate personna, Trencher), Kestleroy, Phantessa, the Gh'd-rahja, and Megiddon in the background. [Ink and Photoshop]
"True Colors": Relic Hunter Daphne along with her ferret familiar, Tiki, and "bird boy" Waldron encountering a Schadow Geist. [Ink and colored pencil]
"Spooky Fiora": Halloween greetings from Fiora in a witch costume along with a devious-looking jack-o'-lantern. [Ink and Photoshop]
Evilstar: As complete as she will probably ever be. Try to imagine that her skin is a stone texture. A leftover from the color character pictures I originally placed on the site. [Pencil and Photoshop]
Original Crew: Long ago, before I created the tons of characters I have now and worked them into the story, the Crew consisted of only three characters: Trencher, Fiora, and Spectrum. A lot has changed since then. [Ink and colored pencil]
Also, be sure to check out my other page of character art,
It contains several of my graphite sketches.
Remember the rules though: viewing, saving, and printing these images is to be done only for your own enjoyment. Do not copy, swindle, or plagiarize all or part of any of these unless I give permission. That includes any fan art submissions to this or any other site.
Requesting fanart! Email me with your ideas and requests. Whether it be my characters, Transformers, Sailor Moon, President Bush, or even Pikachu, send any art you have that you would like to see displayed in my Art by Other Folks page.
In fact, if you have a fast modem or don't mind waiting a minute or two (that's about how long it takes with my 56e modem), check out this 6-frame animation I created of my characters' band, CRUSH. It still needs work though. I haven't gotten the hang of web animations yet.

The characters and ideas contained within are registered copyright and trademark Foxdrew's real identity and all that. The same goes for the Coronacopia name and logo and any other distinguishing features. Don't get me wrong; I love to be flattered by praise! Hey, if I ever hope to reach my goal of producing this story, I don't want it to seem like some cheap ripoff by the time it happens, ya know? I will admit though that a few of the drawings' poses are derived from alternate locations other than directly from my head. I thus humbly apologize to those who have influenced me in such a manner. Learning to draw characters in different positions has to happen somehow! (Poses are copyright of their original creators, or something like that.) ;)
