March in zone 6 is an indoor gardening month. I find many entries that record snow and ice storms as I browse through my garden journals. There have been warm days. They are gifts, however, and not to be depended upon. Seedlings started last month are doing well under the lights. By the middle of the month most ot the tender annuals can be started indoors for early bloom in the garden. An early start is nice but, too many seedlings started indoors become impossible to grow properly on a window sill. Plastic tunnels and cloches can be used to get an early start for cool weather crops. main page | gardening links | site map |
