Ward Dominates Supermoto Class in Denver

Jeff War took 3 wins and a runner up spot at the Supermoto Races in Denver
Jeff Ward aboard a Troy Lee Designs CR450R Honda took three victories and a
runner-up finish over two days of racing during the Fay Myers Suzuki Supermoto
Classic double header at Invesco Field in Denver, Colorado, August 25-26.
Ward only came up short in Friday’s opening race but left Denver with his AMA
Supermoto Championship series lead at 22 points over closest rival Doug Henry.
Ward lead the first three laps of race one on Friday before being passed by
Graves Motorsports Yamaha’s Mark Burkhart, who then held Ward off by .697
seconds to take his second AMA Supermoto win of the season. Henry took third,
7.02 seconds back.
Ward had no difficulty in race two, pulling away from Henry to win by 1.65
seconds. Troy Lee Designs Honda’s Chris Fillmore finished third in race two 17
seconds behind Henry. Burkhart had a collision with reigning Supermoto Champion
Jurgen Kunzel and
DNF’d.
Ward’s dominance continued in race one on Saturday beating
Henry and Burkhart into turn one and winning by .707 seconds, with Fillmore
again finishing third, just over 23 seconds behind Henry.
Graves Motorsports Yamaha’s Brandon Currie ended Troy Lee Designs Honda rider
Cassidy Anderson’s undefeated season in the Supermoto Lites class by beating
the determined Anderson in Friday’s Supermoto Lites feature.
On Saturday Anderson was able to take the win followed by
Currie and Pingree

2005 Supermoto Unlimited Champion Micky Dymond had mixed luck. Dymond had good luck on Friday, when he took the lead in the Supermoto Unlimited feature and went on to win. Second went to David Baffeleuf and BP Racing KTM’s Leonardo Bagnis was third.
On Saturday Baffeleuf, capitalized on a good start going on to win with a 17.362
second lead. Red Bull/HMC KTM’s Benny Carlson was second and Ironclad/GP
Husqvarna’s Gary Trachy took third. Dymond finished sixth after falling twice
The next round of the AMA Supermoto Championship is scheduled for Road America
in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, September 22-23.
