Hate speech

Charles Krauthammer's Nov. 9 op-ed on world leaders past and present began by saying, "Islamist barbarians are at the gate." I am surprised by the absence of any protest against this hate speech.

When Don Imus used racially offensive language, he was roundly condemned and lost his radio show. One would have expected at least some condemnation of similarly hateful words by Krauthammer, but the media have been silent. Not even your ombudsman has written anything.

What would be your reaction if someone said, "The Zionist barbarians are at the gate," referring to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands?
