Who We Are

Freedom Road Productions was founded in October 2000 when three people who loved music decided to organize and form a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to bringing good music to the people of Harford County. Initially we held house concerts and rented church space in the area. When people showed us that they wanted what we were able to produce, we formed Freedom Road Productions Incorporated. The Statement of Purpose for our organization follows:

Freedom Road Productions, Incorporated exists to foster and promote traditional, contemporary, and multicultural folk, jazz, bluegrass, blues, and other grassroots music in Harford County, Maryland. Freedom Road Productions seeks to strengthen and advance organizational and individual initiatives in these music forms through education, networking, advocacy, and professional and field development.

The name, Freedom Road, comes from the trail through Harford County (Old Route 7) which was used by the Underground Railroad on their road to freedom through Maryland and Pennsylvania into Canada.

We are a currently a five member organization with limited membership. Our organizational structure is listed on our Home Page. We have six very successful years under our belt and look forward to our seventh season with a little twist. We found out that you are very busy people and so we cut our regular schedule, and added support for nonprofit organizations. We will be bringing several concerts this year to raise money for other worthy causes. We are grateful to the Harford County Cultural Arts Board for its grant support of our efforts for a sixth year. We are also grateful to you, our patrons, for your support in bringing nationally touring talent into our community. Without you we could not exist.

Thank you, all.
