Monthly Notes

October 11th Meeting:

President Alan Douglass opened the meeting in our new format.  Meetings will start promptly at 7pm.  The first half will include the Bubble Draw, Door Prize Draw, and any Program Speaker, followed by Show and Tell.  Then there will be a break for refreshments, socializing, buying raffle tickets, and last minute auction lot viewing.  The second half of the meeting will comprise the Auction and the Raffle.

The bubble draw was for member #915 Ray Kowalski, not present, so one Walking liberty Half was added to the pot.  Matt Tuter presented his program on Foreign Coins as mentioned on the front page followed by a lively question and answer session.  Thanks again Matt.

Show and Tell contributions included:

  • Veronica Villalovus with a collection of TDC Club elongated coins
  • Gordon Donnell with an ANA souvenir card with first day cancellation
  • Wei Chan with a very nice 1799 Draped Bust Dollar
  • Gary Acquistipace with a black casino token from Carson City
  • Dennis Pagano with an American Legacy Mint Set in special presentation packaging
  • Matt Hutchison with a Paul Harris Fellow medal awarded to his wife Paula by the Cupertino Rotary Club
  • Jeff Colburn with a Carson City medallion
  • Alan Douglas with a announcement for new (now "old") currency showing design features
Wei Chan won the Show and Tell Draw, well done Wei.

Pictured below is your esteemed editor at work (thank you Matt Hutchison for proving this!) and some of the Alaska Tokens which are the prize in the special junior competition and drawing.
