I finally talked with someone who saw the show. Cohen received a
life-time achievement award, but did not perform. Three other artists
each did one of his songs, including Jennifer Warnes doing "Joan of
Arc." Cohen accepted the award and reportedly gave a very impressive
acceptance speech. I hope to eventually get at least an audio tape.
Does anyone know any more about a planned tribute album to Cohen that was
mentioned in this mailing list a few months ago?

Although the name of the award is meant as a tribute to former CBC head
Pierre Juneau, they are actually called the Juno Awards. That name also
serves as a back-handed tribute to the D-Day Normandy beach (Juno beach)
where the Canadian forces landed (bit of a co-incidence there).
