Grinnell Trail
This photo of the Many Glacier area was taken from Mt. Altyn
(east of Many Glacier)... from the summit of Mt. Altyn you can see the
4 valleys that make up the Many
Glacier area... the valley in the picture goes up to Grinnell
Glacier... a valley to the left holds Lake Sherburne... a valley on the
right leads up to Redrock Lake and Swiftcurrent Mountain... the 4th valley
is to the far right side and takes you to Iceberg Lake.
Hike details... for glacier lovers... great alpine hike to overlooks above
Grinnell Glacier.... trailhead: Grinnell Glacier Trailhead at the Many Glacier
Picnic area or the south end of the Many Glacier Hotel... distance: 5.5 miles
or 3.8 miles via boat & hike... Boats leave from the Many Glacier Hotel boat
dock... altitude gain: 1600 feet... saving 1.7 miles with a boat ride means
you might be able to roam a bit further when you get to the glacier.
