Blow winds, crack your cheeks

The storm came in last night blowing garbage down the streets. Because of the color of the sky, for a moment we speculated that it was another tornado. The sky was a sort of messed up florescent mango-pulp in color--a cross between regular gasoline (if you recall what color that was) and dirt. There wasn't the green that accompanied the tornado, and I pointed that out as a small branch hit me in the head.

Afterwards there was a double rainbow, as if nature were suddenly playing nice.

they hate us for our freedom

While I was walking home this morning I was struck by how nice June has turned out. The temperature is not exceedingly hot and it was been somewhat wet. There are a lot of flowers having a hey day with my sinuses, but how can you hold being colorful and smelling good against anything? It would be like, as Sedaris suggests in one of his essays, hating birds for being happy. But I have a suspicion that plants are secretly jealous of our motivity. They hate us for our freedom to move around, you see.

It is good weather to sleep--on a couch--in a chair--or in your bed. I recommend sleeping. It is good for you, and you don't have to worry about anything while your doing it. This, of course, contradicts my earlier conviction that sleep was a waste of time. Ay me, will I ever stick to a belief system?
