"Now with more crumples per square inch!" Aside from being annoyed the hell by some drunken near-transient old guy with only vague notions of the band, and who howled and thought it completely appropriate to do his gyrations into anyone and everyone and to howl in some ecstasy even when he was louder than the band, or being annoyed by the near post pubescent and either their making fun of said near-transient or their decision to hold a combination of hair salon and pathetic macho posturing hour right next to me, Yo La Tengo was a blast last night at. Now of course I realize I'm supposed to provide details here about said annoyances, but I'd rather just say that, as Friend Jason Jones said, "it was one of the best shows I've seen in two years." Now that is necessarily hyperbolic, I think, so I'll say that it was a damn fine and eclectic show with just the right amount of smoothness and grittiness one would come to expect out of progalicious rockitude. I guess cars really do have nothing to do with why my eyes sting when I walk to the bus, eh? I received (from various sources) a golf bag, I guess since I'm climbing closer and closer to geriatricism; a Furturama season 4 collection, I guess since I like space and robots and shit like that; 4 Paris Hilton posters, I guess since my housemate got them for free from the displays he constructs; a ticket to the worst Jazz game I've ever seen (how the hell can you lose to Memphis!) (woo hoo St. George Specturm link! I geriatricaly rock!); lots and lots of free beer; a cab ride home; and many many many action figures for my most Cormanesque movies ever. Did I tell you I did try to post my sacrilegious version of Mel Gibson's The Passion here, but it took up too much space. Those of my friends who've seen it can attest to the might of my very Sundancitude! It did me well, however, as I was able to unload a lot of junk that has been collecting here over time. Goodbye Molympics, forever! Entry 301-720 ( permanent) posted by Clint on Tuesday,January 25,2005 at 05:47:53 PM. comment |
