All Lodges and or Chapter are to have up the following:  The Wall of Honor 2 piece poster sets were mailed out to all Moose Lodges on May 29, 2008.
The envelope states in bold black ink: Open Immediately and Post in Your Lodge and above that is the Gimme 5 logo in a half tone or grey. All Lodges were sent the poster set for use by the Lodge and Chapter Gimme 5 Co-Chairs. These posters are to be displayed in a prominent place for all to see (i.e.: social quarter, lodges hall - not in the restroom or the administrator's office.) The Lodge and Chapter Co-Chairs will update the posters regarding participants on information received from the District Gimme 5 Co-Chairs on a regular basis.  If you do not have these please contact Gary Frieden.  Some lodges have theirs up and are filling them out with members that gave.  Great job!  Let's all get involved with this!

Dear Gimme 5 Co-Chair,

Please, advise all co-chairs that any donations to Gimme 5 or any other Moose related donations that come through Moose Charities (the donation checks must be made out to Moose Charities) coun ts toward the League of Guardians. The threshold qualifying level for the League of Guardians is $1,000. The $1,000 is the accumulation of all Moose related gifts to Moose Charities by husband and wife in the Moose fiscal year.

Not all members can afford $1,000 a year but with the enhanced Gimme 5 pins and by making personal checks for association projects payable to Moose Charities, a great many members (husband and wife combined) can get close in a year. I realize that when this program was announced that you were told that Gimme 5 would not count toward the League of Guardians. That obviously was a mistake. The date of the fiscal year, May 1, 2008 - April 30, 2009, is the period in which the cumulative of all individual donations must reach $1,000 to qualify.

What do you get if you qualify for the League of Guardians? You get a very
prestigious plaque with your name on it. It looks like a "mega coin" which is
cast with information on both sides and it sets on a wood base. This past
International Convention all members of the League of Guardians (and their
spouses); as well as, donors at higher levels were treated to a surf and turf
dinner on top of Bally's hotel with their wife, husband or significant other and
received complimentary free tickets and exclusive front row seats to the
"Extravaganza." What else do you get? Most importantly you get the gratitude of a grateful fraternity and the knowledge that you have made a significant difference in the lives of your Mooseheart children and your Moosehaven seniors.

I became a Guardian last year. Until that time I did not realize that gifts from
both husband and wife counts toward the Guardian base line of $1,000. I also did not realize that my wife was included if I qualified for the Guardian program.
Any combination of gifts from a couple counts toward the $1,000 Guardian
threshold. I, also, did not realize that my wife was included if I qualified or
visa versa.

Again, we realize that not everyone can be a part of the Guardian program but many can and have just never been asked. Many who can, have never been
approached or lack knowledge about the program such as myself.

Many members can give much more but have never been asked or approached.

Please, be knowledgeable about the Guardian program as it relates to Gimme 5.

Best Fraternal Regards & Thank You for Your Efforts!!!

It is probably important to address several rumors that I have heard of late.

 1. Is “Gimme Five” dead?

No, in fact we are pleased with the early results, thanks to your efforts.

2. Will all communications regarding “Gimme Five” come from the SupremeLodge?

No, they will come from the Supreme Lodge, Fraternal Fundraising, both International “Gimme Five” Co-Chairs, Regional and State Co-Chairsto and from Districts, Lodges and Chapters.

3. “Gimme Five” targets individual donors.

The short answer is yes and no.Yes, we hope all Moose members will give $182.50 during the life ofthe campaign. No, we know that Associations, Legions, Lodges, Districts, and Councils ofHigher Degrees will have to raise funds to meet their goals, as it is notreasonable to expect everyone to give the full amount.

 4. You must have access to e-mail to be a Regional, State, or District “Gimme Five”Co-Chair.

True.

 5. To get a “Gimme Five” Blue and Grey pin you must donate at least 1 year’s commitment to the Gimme 5 Campaign.

True and the pins are presented by the Regional or State Gimme 5 Co-Chairs in recognition of a donation of $36.50 or more.

6. How do you get the nicer gold and raised-enamel pin?

Contribute the full $182.50 goal. The pins and other materials are shipped monthly.

 7. Are there any recognition awards for gift of greater than $182.50?Downloaded from www.MooseCharities.org Posted on site: 05/27/20086   Yes.

  8. The “Gimme Five” Wall of Honor should be posted and maintained in all Lodges and Chapters.

True.

9. Do we need “Gimme Five” with the increase in Per-Capita?

Yes, the Per-Capita increase pays bills present and recurring.

“Gimme Five” is the nest egg of investment for the future of Mooseheart & Moosehaven.

Finally and most importantly: “Thank You” for your efforts past and future. If you need help ask someone. If you don’t know ask someone. If something works well tell someone. If something bombed out tell someone. John Wesley said it well, “Do all of the good you can by all means you can, in all places you can, of all of the people you can, as long as you ever can.”

Best Regards,

"GIMME FIVE" -- What Is It?
Nothing More, or Less, Than A Simple Plan to Help Ensure The Future of Mooseheart and Moosehaven
Five cents -- set aside from the change you pour into your pocket or purse in the morning.
Five more cents -- set aside from the change you empty from your pocket or purse in the evening. Just that: a nickel in the morning, a nickel in the evening, set aside and sent to Moose Charities, for the kids of Mooseheart and the seniors of Moosehaven.
That´s the new "GIMME FIVE" program -- it´s really nothing more than that.
But it´s also nothing less than this: If anything close to the entire membership of the Loyal Order of Moose and Women of the Moose were to do just that much . . . every day . . . for five years . . . it could ensure the financial future of Mooseheart Child City & School in Illinois, and of our Moosehaven retirement community in Florida -- without having to keep coming to Moose members every year to ask for more. How can this be? Remember the wisdom of our Enrollment Ritual: "A burden heavy to one is borne lightly by many." Then, do the math: We honestly believe that very, very few of our nearly 1.3 million Moose men and women would find it a hardship to set aside a nickel in the morning, and a nickel at night, for Mooseheart and Moosehaven. But let´s be conservative and say that only 1 million can or will do so. For each of those caring members, then: Five cents in the morning, five cents in the evening is ten cents a day -- or $36.50 a year. That amount multiplied by 1 million members . . . is $36.5 million per year. After five years, by the end of 2012, that could be $182.5 million-- before accumulating investment interest is added in. All from five cents in the morning and five cents in the evening. It´s that simple -- but participating in "Gimme Five" can be even simpler: Instead of trying to remember to physically set aside nickel in the morning and a nickel in the evening from now through 2012, you can...
-- Mail Moose Charities a check for your annual "Gimme Five" contribution of $36.50, or all five years at once for $182.50, to Moose Charities, 155 S. International Dr., Moose heart, IL 60539-1100. (Any questions, please Phone Moose Charities at 630-966-2200.)
-- Make a secure online Gimme Five donation at www.moosecharities.org/Donate.asp
-- Visit the Gimme Five Direct-Debit Plan webpage at http://www.moosecharities.org/pdf/Gimme5.pdf
As you do, know that all contributions to the Gimme Five Program are KEPT SEPARATE from any other donations --ensuring that they are not used for any other purpose. And because Moose Charities is registered with the Internal
Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 charity, YOUR ENTIRECONTRIBUTION IS 100% TAX-DEDUCTIBLE.
If EVERY Moose participates in the Gimme Five program, we can reach a goal for which our fraternity has struggled for more than 90 years -- financial security for Mooseheart and Moosehaven. We have expressed our pride in these two great Moose humanitarian creations for decades -- and our members have told us, loudly and clearly, that they want to keep these two campuses healthy and operating well into the future.
Well, the GIMME FIVE program can make that happen – but only if we ALL participate!

Check out the DVD at your lodge on this fine program!

Tommy Moose

By SHAWN BAILe/Director, Fraternal Programs --But May expand

If you happen to see a cuddly plush
moose in a red sweater in the coming
months that looks like the Tommy

Moose--just more cuddly and lovable looking--
don’t be shocked.

Tommy has gotten quite a makeover!
With his updated appearance, we hope he’ll
be even more welcome in police cars, fire
trucks and ambulances than ever.

In February 2007, the Supreme Council
began to seriously consider redesigning
Tommy Moose. The opportunity existed to
take a very successful community service program
to the next level; to continue the initial
concept of providing a plush Moose in emergency
vehicles while expanding Tommy’s
recognition into additional areas to create a
more identifiable image.

Doing so enables the Moose the chance
to trademark the Tommy Moose character
to restrict use of the likeness to programs
approved by the Order.

A new design created by Chris Ecker of
Moose International Communications &
Public Affairs was submitted to a vendor and
a prototype was composed. The design was
approved, and production of the “new and
improved” Tommy Moose has begun!

While it was extremely important to
continue the success that Tommy Moose
has spread throughout the fraternity, it was
equally important to assure that the new
design was flexible enough to be utilized in
other arenas. Fraternal units will continue
to be encouraged to purchase plush Tommy
Moose through Catalog Sales and present the
items to emergency services personnel in their
respective communities. Units that have made
an initial presentation should stay in contact
with these personnel and replenish their stock
when necessary.

The newly designed Tommy Moose will be
available beginning in January 2008 and will
be used to fill all orders placed from this point
forward. The price remains at $75/dozen; the
catalog item number is 130. To order, call
630-966-2250; fax 630-859-3505; or e-mail
order details to catalogsales@mooseintl.org.
