Peak to Peak Trail and Wilderness Links

This is the place to come for all your ancillary hiking "needs." Hopefully we'll be able to provide you with helpful information on topics ranging from what to bring on your next hike to useful techniques to hopefully add enjoyment to your hiking adventures.

One of the great aspects of hiking is that you can get as involved in it as you like. If you like things simple then all you have to do is find a place to go and get out there and start walking and you're a hiker! But if on the other hand you're the type that likes to pour yourself into whatever you do then there is certainly a wealth of information to peruse and put to use in becoming a better, more experienced hiker.

The attempt of these specific pages will simply be to share with you some of the knowledge that we have gleaned from many years of hiking. Personally it's always been a roller coaster ride for me. I go through times when I can't get enough info about hiking. I search out books and while away hours on the internet looking for more information. I make new lists, improve the old ones, study maps, plan trips that may never come about and dream for hours about hiking. Then the next thing I know I feel like hiking has gotten too complicated so I make an effort to simplify things. I try to not worry so much about gear or about having the map and/or trail description memorized. I just cut back, simplify and get out there and go for a walk! Hiking in it's purest form. The amazing thing is that in time, without my even recognizing it, I come upon some aspect of hiking that I want to be better at. Or someone gives me a book that catches my interest and I'm off again. I've come to believe it's all part of the process.

So, I hope that you can find something of interest to you in these pages. I hope that in some small way they can help to make you a better hiker. By "better hiker" my hope is that this information can help to make you enjoy hiking more. Help you to feel more at ease in the woods or simply aid in giving you a direction or path to follow. That's it, plain and simple!
