Back yard planting finally completed in April 2002

The way it was when we started, with 27 year old tam junipers. May, 2001

It only took a couple of hours to totally excavate the area and rip up the patio. June 2001

Within three weeks the new walls and patio were in place. These three pictures were all taken from the living room window. June 2001, the final hardscape.

The plantings are finally almost complete. 3/30/02

Again, looking out the living room window, this was the old patio which had broken up into a number of pieces.

May, 2001 before the old patio was torn out.

Looking out the window, the new patio is nice, but the grass hasn't started to grow back yet. It eventually does.

June 2001 after hardscape and new patio was in place.

Heading around the house, along the garage was usually damp due to a spring somewhere. May, 2001

Now there are no more wet feet as we go around the garage.

The front corner by the garage is planted with three Oakleaf Hydrangeas. They should be very pretty with white conical blossoms and brilliant fall colored foliage.

April 2002

The front yard and retaining was were done several years ago by Ferrante Bros. Note the gravel path. May 2001

Now there is a nice paver walkway leading to the porch. It matches all the other work. June 2001

Looking at the back of the house from the upper level, there were overgrown azaleas and a very crooked tree.

Now from the top there are two terraces just waiting for new plantings.

After hardscape was completed, April 2001.

The top level has a dwarf Hinoki and several Vibernum tinus "Spring Bouquet."

The lower level has a memorial garden for my mother with gifts of white miniature roses and an azalea. On the far right are three "Nikko Blue" hydrangeas. and next to the wall is a "Pink Delight" butterfly bush.

April 2002

This is the back of the house from close to the neighbor's fence. There will be lots of plantings in front of the wall and on all the terraces.

The middle level has a "Red Dragon" Japanese Maple, Escallonia and Nandina "Fire Power"

The lower level has Rhododendren, "Valley Valentine" Pieris and the Girard's Varigated Azaleas in front.

The new stairs are a lot more inviting than the old ones that never were easy to use. May 2001

Looking out the garage door, there is a nice pad to use for the BBQ or whatever. April 2001

The red bush on the top level is a "Coral Bark Maple" and the tree yet to come for the close upper level is a "Green Arrows" Alaskan false cypress. April 2002
