On this site you will find an historical, Biblically accurate, representation of the Tabernacle of the Lord among the tribes of Israel at the time of Moses.
The upgraded graphics are ready now! Please download the animations for some spectacular new visuals which bring the Tabernacle even more to life.
I used the Holy Scriptures for the basic design of each piece. I researched the meanings of the descriptive words and being an artist and a carpenter, applied those meanings to the results. The words have changed surprisingly little. For instance the word "moldings" that was used to describe the piece of wood around the tops of the various pieces is actually , in hebrew, "crown". To any carpenter, we have a good idea of the types of shapes this means, as well as it's relative position.... Styles were left up to prayer and my own leading. For instance, the Hebrews were to have no graven images. So I knew that the Tabernacle designed by the Lord and shown to Moses, and shared with Bezalel & Oholiab and the other skilled craftsmen, would be simple and elegant.
Much prayer has gone into this design and this site and this whole project. Not just my own prayers , but the prayers of others for this work. I believe that the Lord has honored those prayers and wants us to see the former glory of Israel, that we might understand the present and future glory of God's people. When I began this project, I had very little conception of the finished product. I have used a 3D graphics program called TRUESPACE to help me render the artwork used here. There is some other work also finished in other programs, a list is included onsite.
The process of design is this:
I modeled each piece as I would any piece of furniture I was ordered to make. Following as closely as I could the description given in the scriptures. Next I tell the program what I want it to look like; ie. Gold colored, certain amounts of reflection, transparency, ambient lighting qualities, just the physical attributes of each piece, as close to scientific as I could get them. The same with the curtains, and everything else. Then I position each piece in its place, according again to scripture. I add the lighting, which can make or break a scene, But in this case I, again, just put the lights where they would have been, really. Seven at the Lampstand, and One very bright one in the Holy of Holies where the Lord was present. Then the computer renders the scenes, mathematically accounting for lighting, shadows, reflections and refractions. I was just as amazed and surprised by the results as anyone. The place was not some dark little tent in the desert. It was GLORIOUS !!!With all this in mind I ask you to take a spiritual trip back around four-thousand years. I have put online, the artifacts with a rendering and if you touch the picture you will get a detailed description and what the piece really means to us today. There are also scenes from an AVI (film) file I have made of this whole thing. The AVI takes you from a hillside outside the Court of the Gentiles into the Holy of Holies and the Ark of the Covenant.
There are now two choices for the NEW animation. You can choose the AVI format, which can play on most universal media players. However, the avi file size is quite large. So now it is is only offered on the CD. Or, at a much smaller file size; you can choose the ASF file type which will require you to have a Windows Media Player. You will need a zip utility to unzip it. There are free programs of both all over the internet. (you may already have them in your computer)
Also; I have made a Quicktime Mov. File. It is a simulation of you standing in the center of the tent. You can use your mouse and pan in any direction and zoom in or out! It is amazing! There are no special effects but it has the benefit of you being able to take your time inside in a 3D mode. It's file size is also very reasonable at 1.7 MB. Try it.
DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND, ALL THIS INFORMATION, ANIMATIONS AND MORE HAVE BEEN MADE AVILABLE IN A NEW CD I HAVE MANAGED TO PRODUCE, ALL THE DETAILS ARE RIGHT HERE
