This machine postmark reads, "USPS Honors American Journalists." The April 22 date was the issue date of the American Journalists stamps. This was replaced on May 7 by a postmark to promote a food drive. It was used in the Processing & Distribution Centers in the Capital Metro Area only. The dates shown were the dates this postmark was supposed to be used but one or two places may not have removed the device from their equipment when they were supposed to do so. There was no advance notice and few people were able to get this postmark.
