Look Out for Cats Here Too!
I began quilting when I inherited some quilt tops from my great grandmother and great-great aunt. I felt they needed to be hand quilted, so I got a book and started learning how! They are not all finished yet, but a couple are, and I have 2 more in various stages of completion. At first, I stuck with always hand quilted, but in the fall of 1997 I did two wall hangings on the machine, and then I tried pillows with "freehand" machine quilting. Yikes!. I did finally dive in and do an attic windows quilt, in a dog theme for a gift, and I did it all on the machine. I really enjoy piecing on the machine, so much so that I recently got a "new" upgraded Bernina sewing machine to replace my balky entry level Singer. I really enjoy it and am dreaming up more projects all the time!
You can see some of my quilts below, as well as some pictures of my resident helpers. Where I have put in a thumbnail, just click on the link to see the larger picture. Notice I like to stick to simple, hard to ruin designs. One of my first 'real' projects was a round robin with a cat theme. I have moved the pictures of those quilts to their own page!
I also have links to some patterns I have been drawing since I got addicted. Some are for quick piecing and some are for paper piecing. Please let me know if you like them!
These are examples of my quilts......

This is one of my newer creations. I adore this pattern and had been wanting to make something with it for a long time. I like the brights much better than I thought I would. The only problem was, one of the cats peed on this before I got it hung on the wall! I had to do quite a bit of washing and soaking to get that out. Boy was I ever glad I had pre-washed it! |   |
This quilt was made with a "Quick Attic Windows" method I found on the WWW. I wasn't brave enough to do y-seams at the time. It was a gift for my sister-in-law, who is a dog lover and also loves the colors purple and blue. I think it came out fairly well, particularly because it was the first time I had done anything so large on the machine. |
This was a quick and easy quilt I made for a friend at work (yes, she was having a boy). The really interesting novelty print made the top easy and I machine quilted along the squares in the print. The backing was made of nice soft baby pajama material. |   |
I made this quilt as a gift for my mom, following a pattern in a book by Judy Kime (great source for cat patterns, if you like cat quilts). Mom really liked it, as the red matches her living room, and she likes cats almost as much as I do. Sorry I forgot to take a picture after it was actually bound. |
