MISSION STATEMENT

THE purpose of Nazarene Christian Academy is to provide a pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, grade school, and junior high school for God-centered education...resulting in the mastery of basic skills in Reading, Language, Math, the Arts and Sciences, History and the basics of evangelical Christianity. In addition, building skills in Phonics, Penmanship, Spelling, Poetry, Health, along with safety and manners which all contribute to building strong, confident students....

Hi there, WELCOME TO NAZARENE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY'S HOME PAGE!! Nazarene Christian Academy is an accredited private school, approved by the New Bedford School Department......Nazarene Christian Academy was first established in 1985, founded by Rev.C.Leonard Newbert. When the school was first started, it was actually a pre-school that included children from the age of 9 months through 4 years of age. As time went by, the school expanded to include a pre-k, kindergarten through grade 8. As of September 2004, we are teaching grades 9 through 12. Nazarene Christian Academy focuses on a college preparation program that begins with kindergarten through the 12th grade. Nazarene Christian Academy is a non-denominational private school.Graduations are held yearly, which include pre-k, kindergarten, junior high school, and our high school.

Information

1.Attendance policies are the same as the New Bedford Public School Department, which include snow days for school cancellations. Please listen to WNBH between 5:30am and 6:30am.

2. Our school offers a structured afterschool program, monday through friday, that is available for students until 5:30pm*

3. Our school welcomes your comments and constructive criticism. Please feel free to call the teacher or the director. The teachers' first concern is your child.

4.Health-Doctors' Certificate~~We provide a medical examination form which must be filled out by your childs doctor and returned to the school before your child starts school.

5.Parents are encouraged to present suggestions or express concerns regarding policy, program or policy or curriculum at any time. They should be directed to the administration, both verbally and in writing.

6. Calendars~~Each month you will receive a calendar from your child, telling you some of the highlights from each class so that you will become familiar with your childs program.

7. The school atmosphere and objectives are distinctly Christian in reference and framework. Simple prayer, songs and Bible stories are taught. No doctrinal details are taught, contrary to a parents faith...

8. Evaluation of your child will be done twice a year. Conferences will be set up between teachers and parents to discuss the childs progress. Quarterly report cards for grades 1 and up...

9. Field Trips~~ Our staff feels that children learn by doing and through first hand experiences. Field trips are essential to both motivate as well as reinforce learnings which are taking place in classrooms.

Certified Support Staff~~ Our staff is fully accredited in early childhood, elmentary and secondary education, approved by the New Bedford School Dept.

*NAZARENE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY has a structured After School Program, which is available from 2:30pm, until 5:30pm, monday through friday. The After School Program is for Pre-K students, and Elementary students, and Junior High students. Currently, Nazarene Christian Academy does not have an after school program for High School Students.

From route 195 east, take the Taunton route 140 exit, then take the first exit off of route 140N which will be your Hathaway Road exit. Once on Hathaway Road, continue west for approx. two miles. Nazarene Christian Academy will be on your left (south) side.

From route 195 west, take the Taunton route 140

A LETTER TO PARENTS

Reflecting on the times, we firmly believe that it is more critical that we have a Christian school that possesses Christian values with excellence in academics. As each day passes, we as a community, are faced with new problems challenging the family, the school system, and the commmunity. This is a period of time that seems like every fiber of our society is being uprooted and changed. We believe that the path we are on as a non-denominational Christian school is critical to New Bedford. We are committed to providing an environment of Christian values and excellence in academic achievement, as this is truley essential. It is with sacrad trust, that we commit to you a partnership, as parents, teachers, administration, and students to achieve our "statement of purpose". It is our desire and goal to provide academic excellence with Christian values...

AFFILIATIONS
Our school is affiliated with Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), Nazarene International Educational Association (NIEA), and we are registered with the (DOE) Department of Education, Bristol County and again, approved as a private school with the New Bedford School Department

IS THERE FINANCIAL AID AVAILABLE?
NCA has a need based financial aid program through NAZARENE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY SCHOOL BOARD. Interested families should request information and submit a letter of need, along with yearly income (W2), and mail it to the school upon notification of acceptance

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRANCE
* SCHOOL RECORDS AND ENROLLMENT * PHYSICAL AND IMMUNIZATION RECORDS * ORAL AND WRITTEN ASSESSMENT TEST BEFORE ADMISSION (done by the Academy)

MUSIC...... We at Nazarene Christian Academy, feel that God has givin us a wide array of beautiful music. Gospel, classical, Disney music, children's music, both secular and Christian, are taught in very good taste and in keeping with the standards of our school.

SPECIAL NOTE....Our school has a Wellness Coordinator present five days a week... SUMMER CAMP......A summer camp at Nazarene Christian Academy is also available for Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Grades 1-6
