On this trip, Janey and I along with our 2 travelling buddies, Diane and Bill spent a week in Tuscany, and a week on Lake Como in Lombardy. In Tuscany, we rented a Medieval period apartment (Casa Selva) in the beautiful town of Siena. Italian trains are very reasonable, on time, and a great way to see surrounding towns and sights of Tuscany.
In Lombardy, we rented a lovely apartment (Seta Bianca) in Abbadia Lariana on the shores of Lake Como. We appeared to be the only Americans in this tiny, quaint town on the ancient "silk route." While here, we visited many areas by way of the ferry and train.
