EC12 POINTS NITE APRIL 10, 2007

The WX was marginal. It was overcast with winds from the S and DW and the temps in the mid 40s and low 50s. I arrived at the lake about 4:45PM. There were no other skippers there at the time. I proceeded to do some work on our gear box hinge. That was completed and still no skippers so I went to the rental office for the the apartment complex that the lake is located. About 5:45PM Roland Krona, Gig Harbor, WA showed. Roland does not have an EC12 but came anyway to do some RD duty. At about 6PM Harry Lange, Enumclaw, WA showed. The WX was iffy and there were sprinkles. We thought that we’d wait a bit before putting out the marks and wait if any more skippers would show.

I got all of my gear down to the dock and I proceeded to set up my boat. I got it all rigged, turned on the transmitter and then the power to the receiver to see if my sheets were in the correct position, twist correct etc. I was then greeted by an unwelcome beep, beep. Beep-beep. So what else is new? I had taken the incorrect radio for the EC12. I had brought my transmitter and not the one for the club boat! SOOOO, that was the beginning and end of my sailing for the evening. This memory thing drives me to distraction at times. The sight goes, the hearing goes, the hair goes, the memory goes, etc., etc.! Since we had only one EC12 there we did not sail. No other skippers showed up. We had no marks to pick up so we immediately headed for Mr. A’s for a bite to eat.
