EC12 POINTS NITE #1 TUESDAY APRIL 11, 2006

It was my turn to do the driving so I(Joe Brohan), University Place, WA picked up Howard Rasmussen, UP WA at about 4:30PM. We arrived there at about 5PM. Steve Young, Tacoma, Harry Lange, Enumclaw, Gary Kohler, Keypot, WA and Joe Oczkewicz, Port Orchard were there.

Joe O and Steve Young put out the marks. Thanx, guys. The WX was kinda iffy. It was overcast with no dominant ole sol in the heavens. It was sprinkling a little. Enough to give the impetus to don some rain gear and make the appropriate cover for the transmitter. After sweeping goose poop off the dock and putting up the Skippy Barrier (to warn skippers that they are near the edge of the dock) we finally got started at about 6:15PM. Since Howard R did not have an EC12 to sail (however, he did sail the club boat Rival for a few heats) he did the RD honors. Thanx, Howard.

Winds were from the N at about 0-3mph. The course was to the N, around two weather marks, to the leeward mark and then finish. It was a fairly long course. The sun started to break through a bit and the breezes picked up some. They eventually shifted to the W.

As I had reported, in past regatta reports, Joe O is really doing well, He's getting the heck of setting up the EC12, which, in itself, is a major accomplishment. Then on top of that he is sailing well and is catching on fast. Gosh! We better start watching out. Like ole Satchel Paige once said, "Don't look back it may be catching up with you." Well, in this case it might very well be ole Joe O.

As it so turned out, we stopped sailing at about 8:15PM. Joe O and Steve Y picked up the marks and put the gear away. Thanx, guys. We then headed for the Tav for a bite to eat and figure the placing. We managed to get in 8 heats so that gave us 1 throw out. We all headed for home at about 9:45PM.

It had been a great evening of sailing. This is especially so since we were not visited by Murphy. He hasn't showed up for a while and I'm sure that none of the skippers miss him. Seems as though whenever he rears up his ugly head it is always at the most inopportune time.
