ODOM POINTS NITE JULY 25, 2006
It was another beautiful day in this Summer season of ours. The temps on this day were in the low 80sF, with clear skies and a bright sun. With this kind of WX nothing but good could come of this regatta. So when I, Joe Brohan, University Place, WA, arrived at the lake the breezes were 0-4mph from the SW and NW with the occasional gust to 5mph. Howard Rasmussen did not come because he was out-of-town in Lincoln City, OR.
Jerry Snowbird Muridge, N Tacoma, WA put the marks out. Thanx, Jerry. A big surprise. Who should show up but Kelly Martin, Gig Harbor, WA! Other skippers present were Chappy Chapman, N Tacoma, WA, Roland Krona, Gig Harbor, WA, Gary Kohler, Keyport, WA, and Harry Lange, Enumclaw, WA. The starting gun went off at about 6:15PM. Since we had winds from the SW and NW that were quite light, we sailed essentially windward/leeward courses.
We were fortunate that there were no breakdowns. We still managed to sail 11 heats even though we had light breezes. We were all done by 8PM. Kelly M brought in the marks. Thanx, Kelly. We went to the Tav for a bite to eat and figure the scores.
There was a big battle between Gary K and Harry L with only a 1 point spread between 4th and 5th.
