USAACS TO HAVE FOOT BALL

Allentown Ambulance Squad, with Approval of Commandant, Starts Practice

Allentown, Pa., Oct. 21. -- The Allentown Usaacs will have a foot ball team this season.

Lieutenant-Colonel Snyder, the new commandant at Camp Crane, in an address to the officers and men, gave the game his unqualified approval, following which encouragement Lieutenant Radcliffe, chairman of the Recreation Committee, decided to place an eleven on the field. The candidates held their first practice Saturday.

Among the stars who will compete for berths are: C. F. Ackerman, Cornell; Charles V. Szmiskowski, Fordham, halfback; J. S. Connors, University of St. Louis, quarterback; Adolf Miron, Cornell, guard; Cos Arnold, Fordham, end, centre; Herbert Pontery, University of New York, guard; Arthur E. Haegele, Northwestern College, guard; George Collins, Lafayette, backfield; L. Kahn, Cresson, tackle; Maurice Roseway, La Salle, end; G. S. Ross, J. E. McNally, and F. M. Hoch, tackle, end and quarterback, respectively, from Chicago University; James J. Healey, Fordham, end; Albert Petersen, Minnesota, tackle; F. F. Chase, Minneapolis, line; G. Silberstein, St. Paul, line; Lord, a quarterback from Minneapolis High; Johnson, an end from Duluth; and Werden, a halfback from Minneapolis.
