M'GUCKIN AND DOWNEY KICK INTO TIE AT CONSHOHOCKEN

Field Goals Cause Big Game With Bethlehem Blue Stars to End in 3-to-3 Score -- Barry Plays Well

Conshohocken, Pa., Oct. 23 -- Conshohocken and the Bethlehem Blue Stars played a tie game at Conshohocken today. Score, 3 to 3.

The game was one of the hardest ever played on the home grounds The teams were evenly matched, the Blue Stars having a slight advantage.

McGuckin and Downey scored the only points for their teams, both booting the pigskin between the uprights from the 45-yard line. These two boots saved the game from a scoreless tie, as neither Conshy or [sic] the Blue Stars could advance the ball within their opponents 30-yard line.

The Conshohocken linemen played a strong defensive game, while the Blue Stars' secondary defense stopped most of the plays. Downey, Smith and Williams frequently pushed Yebsley, Eble and Ballon back after they had clearly passed the line.

Finn, Downey and Lehr played the best game for the Blue Stars. Finn circled the ends for several good gains, while the backing up of the line by Downey was an outstanding feature.

"Phil" Barry was a tower of strength to Conshohocken, playing end, following the ball closely, rarely missing a play. McGuckin and Pownall gained around the ends, Yebsley, Captain Elbe [sic] and Ballon making good gains through the line. Next Saturday Vincome will play at Conshohocken.
