CONSHY LOOMS AS STRONGEST ELEVEN
Mackert, Potteiger, Rosetsky and Baker proved a brilliant combination for Conshy in subduing Holmesburg Saturday. Conshohocken winning out in the last quarter after Holmesburg had led, 3 - 0, for one period.
To Mackert goes most of the credit for the victory as it was the former Lebanon Valley fullback who smashed his way through the reinforced Holmesburg line for a touchdown.
The teams fought bitterly for two periods, neither being able to put across a point until near the finish of the third quarter when Charlie McGuckin, the former Villanova star, standing on his own 35 yard mark, drop-kicked a pretty goal straight between the uprights and the 1,500 Holmesburg rooters who helped swell the crowd attendance to 8,000, went wild.
Holmesburg was strengthened for this game. The team presented its strongest front with Breithaupt, formerly of Villanova, replacing Lew Hayes at left end. Joe Alexander, former Syracuse player at tackle, Jim Purdy, formerly of Brown University at quarterback and Nemzek and Smith, late of the Frankford Yellowjackets, at the halfback posts.
