Eagles Defeat Legion Team
The Phila. Eagles staged a last period attack to crush the Frankford Legion 40-0 under the floodlights at the Phillies' Ball Park on Wednesday night.
The Eagles, held at bat almost all the way, suddenly opened up with a great running and passing attack that rolled up 34 points in the wildest period of professional foot ball seen here since the first days of the champion Yellow Jackets.
Swede Hanson, former Temple ace, who was playing with a lame ankle, and Jody Whire, that dashing Georgian, were the keystones in the Eagle attack. They ran the Frankford line dizzy. Whire made the first touchdown in the opening period on a reverse run.
Then came that wooly last quarter, when Hanson scored twice and Felber, Lackman and Prisco managed to get across the goal before the final whistle. Henson incidently [sic] added three tries for extra points and Kirkman accounted for another.
