HOG ISLAND SINKS NEW YORK SHIP 9-0
Wins Championship of River Shipyards in Hard-Fought Battle
Hog Island is now the champion football eleven of the shipyards. The Philadelphia grid team earned that title yesterday by beating the New York Ship outfit, from Camden, 9 to 0 at Strawbridge & Clothier field, Sixty-third and Walnut streets, in one of the hardest games of the season., and Manager A. D. Irvine and Coach W. Varker, of Yale, are rejoicing.
Two former scholastic lads were the shining lights of Hog Island's triumph. Beebe, a Bridgeton, N. J., High player, scored a touchdown in the first period, and Keefer, of Harrisburg, sent the pigskin over for a field goal in the second quarter, which accounted for all of the locals' points. It was a great triumph for Hog Island, for they were outweighed by their opponents.
