For Sale: Pottsville Maroons
Dr. John G. Striegel relinquished operational control of the Maroons for the 1928 season by "loaning" the team to a group of players that included Pete Henry, Duke Osborn and Herb Stein. By the end of that season, however, Striegel had decided to get out of the football game altogether and began discussions that would ultimately result in the sale of his club to a Boston based partnership that included veteran Maroons' player George Kenneally. The documents below give a fascinating look at some of the behind the scenes activity involved in the transfer of the franchise.
