Jackets Win Last Game at Lebanon, 26 to 0
Five thousand football fans jammed Pleasant Hill field at Lebanon, Pa., last Sunday afternoon to see the Frankford Yellow Jackets down the local Battery H team, 26 to 0. Interest in the game was centered in "two-bits" Homan, the Jackets' quarterback who is a Lebanon boy, a product of Lebanon High School and Lebanon Valley College. Homan pleased the crowd with his brilliant dashes in returning punts and skirting the Lebanon ends, but failed to score.
Four times the Jackets crossed the Lebanon line, Diehl going over twice and Mercer one in completing uninterrupted progress down the field on crashes through the soldiers' line. In the third quarter Halicki intercepted a forward [pass] and dashed fifty-five yards for a touchdown. Mercer's toe accounted for two added points.
The contest marked the closing game of the Jackets 1929 season and the end of Diehl's career as a professional football player.
