CLIFTON-JACKET PLAYERS CALL OFF FOOTBALL GAME
Afraid to Take Chance After Sizing Up Crowd
The Clifton Heights-Frankford game scheduled for yesterday at Clifton was not played. The Delaware County champions were originally billed to play Pottsville, but when the Maroon gridders refused to play Guy Chamberlin offered to bring a team of Yellowjackets so as not to disappoint the fans.
But the fans failed to turn out as expected due to cold weather. Both teams were in uniform ready for the fray. Some of the men on both sides wanted to go through with the game and then others felt that the sum sum to be realized was not worth the risk on the hard field. The game was being played on a percentage basis and the crowd was not one-third of what had been anticipated, but Manager Jimmy Gallagher said they were still filing in rapidly when the no-game decision was decide on by the players.
