Yellow-Jackets 12 -- NY Giants 3
Big Thanksgiving Day Game Adds Another to Frankford's Long String.
The Frankford Yellowjackets found plenty of opposition in the New York Giants at Frankford, but came through with flying colors. The score was 12 to 3. The game was hotly contested. The Giants presented a well-trained line-up, and the big Northeast eleven found the toughest kind of sledding pushing over their scores.
Tom Davies, Seasholz, Scott and Lightner did the bulk of the ground gaining for Frankford. Miller and Thomas played their usual star game at the end berths, and Lud Wray at center was a power on defense.
Neville, the former Yale halfback, and Jim Drummey, of Tufts, carried the ball for the Giants, while Schram, the former Yale end, and McCoullough, Holy Cross, played exceptional ball on defense. Neville scored for the visitors with a 40-yard dropkick in the final period.
Williams kicked off to Neville, who ran the ball to the 30-yard line. After line plunges fail Neville punted to Davies, who ran the ball to midfield after sidestepping the ends.
Then Frankford began its first offensive. Lightner made a first down off tackle. Scott shot through the same hole and then reversed and speeded twenty yards for another first down. Lightner and Seasholz carried the ball to the 3-yard line , from where Scott shot over for the first score. Scott failed to kick for the additional point.
In the second In the second period Frankford again got the ball near midfield and began a consistent march goalward. Lehecka, who replaced Scott, and Lundgren, who took Seasholz place, shared the brunt with Davies and Lightner.
Lehecka finally carried the ball over, but suffered two broken ribs in accomplishing this feat. He missed the goal and then was removed from the game, to be replaced by Bowser. Neither side threatened to score during the remainder of the half.
In the third period Frankford threatened the opposition twice. Using a formation with nine men on the line, the Yellowjackets twice took the ball to within the 5-yard line, but lacked the punch when the Giants' defense stiffened.
Beginning the final period Davies caught a punt on his own 15-yard line and made a sensational broken field run to the goal line only to be brought back because a Frankford player was off. Neville kicked his field goal in this period after Schram recovered a punt which Davies dropped.
