Perhaps the most unique feature of Ghosts
of the Gridiron is the wealth of fully transcribed news articles made available for viewing.
Over one-hundred such articles appear throughout
this site. Dating from the early 1890s thru the early 1930s they
provide a fascinating glimpse into the past, documenting the teams and players that make the early
history of professional football so interesting.
"...those
who delight in kicking, biting, gouging, head punching, hair-pulling and
other beautiful points of this health-giving and life-destroying game
are likely to get their full money's worth."
These articles were originally
transcribed and linked to various pages in the hope that they might provide
additional insight on the teams chronicled here. While that remains their primary function this index serves another
purpose, that of cataloging of
these articles to allow viewers to browse them from a
single location.
Don't forget to also visit the Virtual
Scrapbook Library for access to images of the many other news clippings
collected here at Ghosts of the Gridiron.
