PHOTO #1: This band photo of the Essentials started out as a B&W print. I scanned it in RGB, color-balanced, and masked the instruments to begin applying various channel mixing and curve techniques to colorize the instruments only.
PHOTO #2: Deviation of the first band photo, in which a removed a few members and recreated the backdropo with a vignette.
PHOTO #3: Upper left frame is the original. The remaining 3 frames illustrate color balancing and masking to isolate the subjects and drop as individuals to a new background I created by sampling part of the curtain and enlarging it. finally, I brushed in dropshadows against the new backdrop.
PHOTO #4: Drastic example of restoration work. I had to use a secondary print of the younger girl's face and mask it into the original shot. The original did not have enough image available to reconstruct her face. This was a challenging piece.
PHOTO #5: Ever get a "cowboy" theme photo at a carnival / fair? After some time, the non-archival quality print paper deteriorates the image. I scanned the original and cloned in the tiny holes that were eating away at the image.
