Bio
The music of Gina French spans many genres, influences and emotions, but conforms to none. As a singer, songwriter and guitarist, the Salt Lake City native can’t easily be tied to any restrictive label such as folk, rock, blues, pop, soul or alternative. All of these elements and more are apparent, but none define her.

Many of Gina French's influences comes from a wide range of genres, including U2, Peter Gabriel, Tori Amos, Sheryl Crow, Joan Osborne, Annie Lennox, and Earth Wind and Fire, just to name a few. Her greatest vocal influence stems from Bono of U2.

Gina’s original songs garnered airplay on several top Utah radio station's local music shows, including X96, The End 107.5 and KRCL 90.9. In 1997, she entered Musician Magazine's Best Of The Unsigned Bands (BUB) contest. Among 3,000 entrants, she was chosen as one of 300 worldwide semi-finalists and the sole Utah semi-finalist. In August of 1997, her debut CD, Sacred Ground, was named as one of the Top 25 local recordings by Salt Lake City Weekly newspaper. A year later, her new song "Midnight Tracks" was chosen to be showcased on Summerhays Music's compilation CD Local Soundzz: Music For The Millennium, distributed throughout the state. In July of 2000, Gina was invited to appear as the local Utah opening act for The Girls Room Tour, a Capitol Records tour featuring label artists Tara MacLean, Shannon McNally, Kendall Payne and Amy Correia. One month later, she was nominated as Best Female Singer in Salt Lake City Weekly's annual music poll. In October of 2000, Gina appeared as a performer for the national Indiegrrl tour, an Internet-based network for women musicians.

In June of 2004, French and band appeared at the Utah Arts Festival, coinciding with Of Rapture’s release. In August 2004, Of Rapture was included in Salt Lake City Weekly’s annual SLAMMy Top 50 Local CDs. In October 2004, Gina was a Featured Artist on Indie-Music.com.
