Watershed Mural: News

"This gigantic mural on DeKalb Avenue marks the Eastern Subcontinental Divide that runs along the edge of the Lake Claire neighborhood. Resident and activist Kathy Evans said after learning that little known fact, she thought it might be a good idea if more people knew about the spot that affects the quality of the water that eventually reaches both the Atlanta and the Gulf of Mexico.  Read whole story.  (Click image for enlarged photo)

Here is part of David Fichter's latest draft of the left (Atlantic) half of the mural.  Click the image for the full sketch.  Next up: The other half, depicting water flow from Atlanta to the Gulf of Mexico!

A group of neighbors and interested parties met on Nov. 16 to brainstorm and discuss mural design ideas.

• Seeking input!  

  • 1) Do you know a source for a simple depiction of the Georgia river system to the Atlantic and the Gulf (highlighting the Subcontinental Divide).

  • 2) Do you have ideas of landmarks that should be highlighted along the way (and for our immediate area -- Atlanta to Decatur) to help orient people at a glance.

  • 3) If you want to take the time to review the overall mural concept (see Mural Notes), please suggest any "not to be left out" items.
