ABOUT US - GERRY

Geraldine Watts Liu, owner of My Best Friend's Wedding, began working in the bridal industry in 1996. Geraldine is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. She has had extensive retail experience, from managing a small boutique on Long Island to selling menswear at Barneys New York. Gerry has been selling bridal accessories in Ardmore, PA since 1997, and she reopened the store in 2001 as My Best Friend's Wedding.

Gerry's experience working with photographers and hair and makeup artists in New York, Boston, and Miami has helped her to advise many brides how to attain the look that best suits their individuality. The store's philosophy is to help the bride to design a complete look. "Your look begins with your dress and our job is help guide you to its completion. We get excited about accessories, and the sales staff is trained to be knowledgeable about them." says Gerry. Because "coordinating the entire look for the bride is important to us," Gerry employs an in-house bridal hairstylist and since November 1st 2003, Lisa Begley of On Occasion has joined the staff. Lisa's expertise in planning and coordination is a great asset to the store and it's clients.

All the accessories in the store are chosen based upon quality, affordability, and uniqueness. The store's extensive collection is supported by its superior service and warm atmosphere. Training the sales staff is an ongoing process. Gerry says, "hair styles, headpiece styles and veil styles change, so we must constantly be aware of the trends and how to show them." The staff is required to browse the current bridal magazines to become familiar with latest dress styles. More importantly, Gerry and her sales staff enjoy what they do. "This is a happy time in a woman's life, we enjoy going through the process with them. We love when they send us pictures from their wedding day." All of these elements combined with a beautiful collection of bridal and evening accessories make shopping at My Best Friend's Wedding a unique and pleasurable experience.
