THE CLUB

Our vision is that others will want to experience the love of Jesus as they've seen it through us.

History: The Venture Club is a student initiated Christian club for 7th and 8th graders.  It was started by two seventh graders  at Central Middle School in January, 1995.  Ishi Hills Middle School students started as a part of Venture Club in August, 2005.

Meetings: Any student is welcome to come to our meetings and be a part. We meet together one day a week for prayer, a devotion, and working on projects which help or serve others at our school or in our community. Summer meeting or meetings take place. Students who have just been promoted to seventh grade are invited to take part in meetings as well as activities.

Ongoing Projects: Central's club has chosen to sponsor a child each month who lives in Rwanda, Africa.

Ishi Hills' club chose to assist a classroom in Armenia with school supplies and then to support the child in Rwanda.

We help with community needs and projects. For a few years,  made from 500 to over 1,000 pink ribbon reminders.

Our reminders, along with those made by other groups, were distributed in the community for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We choose various fund raising projects each year. Recycling is one of them.

Special Projects: We support one time projects when a need arises. For instance, we supported a college student so that she could go to the Ukraine to work in an orphanage for a month.

After the terrorism in New York City, a couple of members came up with the idea of making a U.S. flag from hundreds of red, white, and blue pieces of paper.  For three days during the lunches, any student who desired could sign their name or write an encouraging message to New Yorkers.  The flag was made up of more than 750 pieces.  It was sent to New York City's mayor.

For 9/11's one year anniversary, we helped over 450 of our peers make red, white, and blue ribbons to wear in memory of those who lost their lives and in support of our country.  Tonya Paul, photographer for the Mercury-Register, took this picture.

See You At The Pole: We sponsor times of prayer for our school and community throughout the year.

Motto: "Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" Matthew 22:37-39
