Sunday, July 25th

Today was Expos day.

In the morning, we visited Atwater Market. There were outdoor flower shops and indoor food shops and everything in between. Then we headed over to the game.

Olympic Stadium felt a little different than the Fenway Park games we were used to. First of all, it's indoors. Watching a baseball game indoors is a strange feeling. We had great seats behind home plate. After finding our seats, Beth and I went to fetch some goodies and pick up our complimentary Andres Galarraga Russian dolls. The game turned out to be very exciting despite the fact the Expos did not have a strong team this year. The Expos' starting pitcher, Livan Hernandez, brought a perfect game into the 6th inning. A rookie backup catcher for the Marlins we had never heard of, Josh Willingham, pinch hit and drew a walk to break up the perfect game. Hernandez kept the no-hitter a while longer before losing that too. By the time the 9th inning rolled around, the Expos were still winning, but Hernandez ran into some trouble. Manager Frank Robinson turned to his bullpen to save the game, which they did. It's always fun when the home team wins.

After the game, it was off to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. Again, we were early to avoid the crowds. This is a very American restaurant in a very French city. It felt like we were back in the states.
